Software Engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering closely related to fields such as computer science, industrial engineering, and mathematics. It focuses on the fundamental principles of software and encompasses its development, production, operation, and maintenance. With a strong emphasis on design, Software Engineering plays a vital role in today’s modern business and technology-driven world.

The Department of Software Engineering was established within the Faculty of Engineering at Kütahya Dumlupınar University in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 on Higher Education, as amended by Law No. 2880, pursuant to the decision of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Türkiye dated March 17, 2021.

The Department began admitting students as of the Fall Semester of the 2022–2023 Academic Year.
